Promote COVID VACCINES for Swinburne University Students before their final 2021 exams.
Who is your target audience?
The audience that I’ll be targeting through this campaign is any Swinburne student between the ages of 18-30 years who will currently be doing their final 2021 in-person exams at Swinburne University campus’ (Hawthorn, Croydon and Wantirna).
What are your key objectives?
My key objectives are to effectively communicate and inform/ educate that every Swinburne student who will be taking their final in-person 2021 exams are to be fully vaccinated beforehand. With the end result that every student will be fully vaccinated when 2021 in-person exams start.
What is your key message(s)?
Vaccines are highly important to get as it provides a sense of safety when face-to-face for Swinburne students.
Swinburne students who get vaccinated are prepping for a future in doing in-person exams/ face-to-face learning again.
Eg.
“Let’s make it a reality to do your 2021 exam face-to-face.”
“How to attend your 2021 exam face-to-face? GET VACCINATED.”
Colour/ text board:
Main colours I’ve used are blue and red.
Why?
The first campaign - For this campaign the main colour used was, blue, as it’s calming and gives a more clean look, which is highly necessary for a first glance in getting students to get vaccinated before their 2021 in-person exams. It’s also conveying order and secureness, that when vaccinated there’s a sense of security that you’ll prevent spreading/ catching the virus and that you’ve ‘secured’ a place in attending your 2021 in-person exam.
The second and third campaign - For these two campaigns the main colour used was, red. It’s showcasing Swinburne colours and gives urgency to the message; which is highly important as it is very important to inform/ educate Swinburne students to get vaccinated before their 2021 in-person exam.

Why have you chosen the tactic in each medium?
Tactic 1 -
ROLLING POWERPOINT ACROSS CAMPUS -
A rolling powerpoint will guide students to visually view and hopefully be motivated to get fully vaccinated before their 2021 in-person exam. I believe having visuals aiding written text are more attentive and eye-catching, especially as students are more focused on studying and interacting with peers. As Chron Contributor states, rolling powerpoints essentially “inform, educate, motivate and persuade internal and external audiences” (Chron Contributor 2020, p.1), which is exactly the purpose of providing this rolling powerpoint to Swinburne students around campus.
Here is an example of how this could look if teachers were to show the rolling powerpoint on a desktop computer:
Tactic 2 -
FLYER ON ‘HOW TO’ -
Having a Flyer which states a ‘how to attend your 2021 exam face-to-face’ would be very beneficial as it’ll give a clear and simple key message on how all Swinburne students taking a 2021 exam can attend their exam face-to-face; as express colour cleverly points out “they are also made simple so as to attract consumers’ attention and make them interested” (ExpressColour 2016), which, will attract students and inform them that getting vaccinated is a must. Having a Flyer given out around the campus will also benefit in targeting Swinburne students who will be taking their 2021 in-person exam; ultimately the message will be spread around campus quickly.
Here is an example of how this Flyer could look like in-person:
Tactic 3 -
INSTAGRAM GRAPHICS & HASHTAGS REINFORCING THE MESSAGE -
Using this type of digital/electronic message to get the message across (to get vaccinated before their 2021 face-to-face exam) to students is highly beneficial as many students use instagram. It’s also a visually constructed app which allows for more visibility when posting an important message. Jones significantly mentions that, “higher education institutions are also embracing the effectiveness of using Instagram to communicate with students” (Jones 2021). Ultimately, I believe it’ll give students to be highly interactive with the post, as, visuals are eye-catching and always stand out when students scroll through their instagram feed.
Here’s an example of how this would look like through the app ‘instagram:’
